Hiya,
It’s been a while since I did a beauty post and with the new year here, It’s time to take care of ourselves and start it right be it health wise or skin-wise. By now you all know that I love skincare and products that come with it, I am a product hoarder and I am still trying to fix that. We all would love to just get up in the morning and not care whether that lousy pimple is all hormonal or just a pesky annoying torch. My skin has gone through ups and downs and if you read my skincare routine, then you will know how much I do try to take care of it. So anything that will give me healthy clear looking skin I am all for trying and researching about it. If you have skin problems, then here are 5 reasons why your skin is not clear and healthy.
1. NOT HAVING A ROUTINE
You might have heard or read this everywhere by now everybody talks about their skincare routine, I have one too. I hope you have also already come up with one for yourself because without one, I don’t think you will be seeing any healthy and clear skin anytime soon. So I suggest you come up with a routine you will be able to keep up with and maintain in the long run because you wouldn’t want to suffer and begin having skin issues just because you never got to stick to one routine.
2. FORGETTING TO REMOVE YOUR MAKEUP
Forgetting this just damages your skin even more yet it’s not that hard to do. It’s simple as having makeup removal wipes on your bedside for when you tend to forget. I know not everyone wears makeup on a daily basis but if you do then always remember to take it off. You would not want to clog your pores all in the name of sleeping pretty, so let your skin breathe.
3. DON’T KNOW YOUR SKIN TYPE
This right here is probably the most important because not knowing your skin type can just make you feel frustrated. The worst part is when you know have tried everything and your skin still looks all dry or dehydrated. Also when it comes to having acne, oily skin or sensitive skin then knowing your skin type does help when choosing which and what kind of products to use. Which brings me to my next point.
4. BUYING THE WRONG PRODUCTS
Now that you’ve got your skin type in check, it’s time to get you some products. Having clear and healthy skin doesn’t mean that you need to try out everything me being the victim of that hence the being a hoarder at the beginning of this post, but to get what is suitable for your skin, so make sure to avoid buying the wrong products which will only do you more harm than good in the long run.
5. NOT GIVING IT TIME
Last but not least, not giving it time for the products to at least try and do their job. If you are also impatient like me then you know what I am talking about. Your acne or rashes are not going to disappear overnight just because you used a product that is suppose to clear them. Give it sometime even a month and stick with it unless it causes more acne or burns your skin. If any product burns your skin, don’t continue using it, not all products will be the right one. Like proactive doesn’t work for me yet it does wonders for my sister, so make sure to give yourself time.
That’s it my lovelies, all you need to know to have clear and healthy skin, now I am no expert but from all the mistakes I have done before with my skin, these are by far the most important according to me. If you have any questions or any other suggestions, feel free to tell me in the comments below. Before you leave, what are Your biggest skincare mistakes You have ever made and what were the reasons?

Unfortunately you’re right. As far as I am concerned I can not have a routine of cleanliness and beauty as I would like … I am very bad in the constancy ç_ç
Skin care is so important. I used to mock women having skin care routines until I finally started doing it and saw the difference! Great points!!
Thanks for the tips! I guess I’m pretty lucky to have clear and healthy skin (or I’m just contented by how problem-free it is). I don’t use make-up, don’t have a routine – but I try to get a good night sleep and eat fruits. Plus, I think the cold, cold climate in the north helps the skin from becoming too oily and thus, prevent the pores from clogging often. But I think the biggest mistake was not putting on lotion in winter, leaving my skin dry that time. So I make sure to put on lotion now when I go out in winter. 😉
You are so lucky, I have to really take care.
I am trying so hard to get into a good skincare routine! I’m still figuring out my skin type (is it possible for one face to have 4 different skin types lol??)
Funny enough it is possible, my t-zone is oily my sides sensitive and my cheeks are dry so you can imagine.
It took me a while to form a routine for my skin that has finally begun to work! I have not found the perfect products for my make up yet but I know that it is the reason I’m breaking out. Great tips
What a great post! Looking after my skin is something that I really could work on. I have let my routine go since becoming a mummy and you are right. My skin is not the same as it was because of it! Thanks for the motivation to take charge and make healthier habits for the sake of my skin.
I am also recently a mum, my boy turns 8 months . I know it’s been long but with the sleep deprivation My skin hasn’t registered yet so I am with you.
I have to admit I am terrible a lot of nights about forgetting to take off my makeup. It really is so horriible and I need to be much better about it.
This was very insightful! You bring up very good points, especially the frustration that comes from not knowing your skin type! Understanding how climate affects your skin is something good to know as well, I’m from California and when I moved to Washington state, my skin felt like scales… it was so freaking dry!!! Once I understood my skin type and also how to take care of it during the summer and winter months, I’ve experienced flawless skin ever since! Thanks for sharing!
I am one of those lucky ones that has pretty good skin. I don’t really do anything with it. However, when I was younger I had my fair share of acne.
Having skin problems is so frustrating. My teen has bad acne and he has tried everything but no luck.
Numbers one and five are certainly the reasons why I don’t have clear skin. I’m changing this, this year.
I do agree, and I never forget to remove my make-up, however I am having trouble with the beauty routine, I always aim for some 10-step something and I find I am too tiered / can’t be bothered! But I do notice the way my skin improves when I wipe my face with micellar water and hydrate and tone after!
What a list of great tips! Having makeup removal wipes on the bedside is actually a good idea, it will come handy for the people who are already on the bed while they realize that they haven’t cleaned their face. Thank you for the amazing ideas!
For the longest time, I had no idea what my skin type was. I could have sworn it was oily but its turns out my skin was so dry that’s what was causing some of the oils. I wish I would have known sooner that I had dry skin because I could have started using products that would have made my skin awesome.
Removing your makeup each night is such a huge help. I also enjoy having a skin care routine that I follow daily.
I’m guilty of all except not removing make up- just because I do not wear it. I need to be serious about skin care.
I love the last tip. Things like this take time, but many people become impatient and then give up or do something drastic to their skin, which makes it even worse! Great post.
Sleep deprivation is also a factor. 🙁 I wish I can take better care of my skin this year.
Not having a routine is right. I am a very lazy person who could hardly do stuff other than soap my face in the bath. But my kind of face needs more maintenance, which is why I still keep getting breakouts at my age. 🙁 pfft
Reading this makes me grin and feel guilty for some of those in the list. Haha! I guess this year, I need to be much more disciplined.
My skin can get so bad sometimes. Thanks for sharing ways to know what it can be from.
Very true – for so long, I thought I had a different skin type to the one I actually do. When I finally got some advice, and started using products that were appropriate for my skin type, I noticed such a huge change!
Thank you so much for the tips. My skin is oily and I have to take care of it more. Thanks for the post.
A wonderful topic! Most of us struggle with some type of skin issue. I have super sensitive skin, and I have trouble finding the right products. I think a lot of my skin issues were coming from the food I was eating, as I found out super late I was sensitive to gluten and dairy. After cutting it out, it has gotten better!
I definitely need to figure out the right products for my skin. I have the worst combination skin, especially in winter. It gets so dry around my nose and on my cheeks!
I am so lucky to have a clear skin! However, during the past holiday I traveled to a very humid place, and I did notice that my skin has started to change and become very sensitive. Luckily when I returned home it came back to normal.
I need to take better of my skin, that’s for sure. I’ll keep these in mind. I am working on having better skin. I need to have a better routine.
I am super impatient like you say you are! Not giving products, the time to show their results is worst mistake I am guilty of making.
Every time I started a routine, I would get lazy and drop it which would get me no where – as soon as I’d see results, I’d basically give it up. As for skin type, knowing it is vital as you said! For years I thought I had oily skin. Turns out, it was actually dry!
I think these are all reasons that my skin has never been perfect. I’ve been working on them all though!
To be honest, I do nothing of the right things – no routine, no time, no products, etc – and my skin is actually super nice. I just leave it alone.
Lucky girl you are, don’t do anything then.
These are some great tips, I’ve always suffered with my skin and I have to admit I really struggle with keeping up a routine. I should try making sure I keep up with things and I have to try some new products.
Forgetting to remove your makeup is a big one. I used to go through his every single night. I’ve learned to remove it.
Wow! I am really glad to know all that from this blog post. Thanks for that information that you give to us! For now on, I will give more time on my skin.
Great tips! I need to start having a routine as well. However I do find that sleep or the lack of it greatly affects the tone of my skin.
I used to forget to take off my makeup when I was younger. I’m always very careful to remove it now.
I’ll be honest, I have no clue what my skin type is. All I know is, I barely wear makeup and my skin is very fair, dry and sensitive, LOL!
Hi there. I agree with you all 5 reasons. From my experience, I had used the wrong product that cause my skin falling in a severe situation. Until I found the right product after I check my skin type, I choose my bb cream for oily skin. I found a great result. After that I always choose the products carefully and specific to my skin type. Thank for your sharing i really love this.
I think my downfall is diet, stress and using the wrong products 🙁 x
Food food food is another factor. But people who sleep in their makeup could be a reason for extra breakouts.
Not knowing your skin type is one of the biggest mistake every lady can make because it determines how you buy and use products. Do it wrongly and your face will literally go bad on you.
This is very very useful, will forward it to my wife. Thanks a lot for the great insights.

I think I make most of these mistakes, that’s why I keep having some skin problems. I’ll try to follow your tips to avoid them and to improve the condition of my skin. 🙂
having a routine is so important ! it takes me about 30 mins just to clean and prep my skin yay!
I can honestly say that I’m guilty of at least three of these. I need to work harder!
I’m guilty of forgetting to remove my makeup but I’m very lucky that it takes a lot to make my skin break out.
I don’t have a routine and I am not a fan of make up. I do have sensitive skin and eyes so I only use baby shower gel to wash my face. I am very lucky as I do have healthy skin and receive compliments about it all the time.
These are so true and lack of water or poor diet can cause unhealthy skin as well.
well you have mentioned some valid points here, I’m always particular about removing my makeup. Though I’m not very fond of makeup but I’ll make sure to wash my face at the end of the day.
Once you find the right products and routine it’s a breeze to care for your skin. Great article, I remember back then when I would use baby lotion on my face lol times have changed. I think I enjoy my skincare routine more than applying makeup.
Despite using a decent skincare brand, I am horribly lazy about my skincare sadly. It’s called kids! I used to be fairly dedicated before but I have to admit, I have done maybe 3 face masks my entire life!
I am so bad st remembering to remove any makeup. Usually I forget because I rarely wear makeup, so when I do it’s just out of my mind.
I promise myself I’m gonna have a skincare routine this year but I’m still trying to figure out what works best for me
Forgetting to remove your make-up is the biggest mistake a woman can make. There are so many chemicals in make-up products, they need to come off at the end of the day and leave the skin breath.
Consistency is so key when it comes to good skin care. Sticking to a morning & night routine.
These are some great reasons why you skin might not be as clear as it could be we all need to remember to take off make up it can be so easy not to do!
I think I’m probably guilty of all 5 of these mistakes. I need to get more into a routine before it’s too late.
Yes yes yes yes yes. It took me YEARS to figure out what worked best for my skin and ALL OF THESE are on the list of what helped.
I can agree my main mistake is not having a routine. I need to set certain products to the side.
I have always been so bad about remembering to take off my makeup. I have gotten better though as I have gotten older. I also find drinking more water really helps my skin.
The wait for products to work kills me! That’s the hardest one. I’ve been doing a routine for a couple months now and I’m slowly seeing results.
I don’t have skin issues yet. However, I learned a lot from your post. Thank you.
**Cries Silently** I will agree with you because I avoid doing these things and then have to bear the bad effects. These are simple and best points that still many people don’t know. I can’t follow it due to time constraints but I have seen some girls not doing it.
It is a never ending battle with my skin. I wish there was more I could do!
I am guilty of 1 and 5. I don’t have a routine and do not really give time to my skin. But it does not look that bad
You bring up some really good points to consider. Finding the right products for my skin type has certainly helped my skin.
I am sharing with my friend she knows the real pain she is not getting time for all these and let me sharing this with her hopefully her life will sort out soon
I guess these are the reasons you do have a bright beautiful skin! Thanks for sharing these valuable tips…
Thank you I try hard but Spring comes with allergies lol.
