Time for some organisation,
Happy new week everyone, I hope you had a lovely weekend and having a great start. Being organised has never been my strong suit, but after having kids, all that had to change and figuring out what works for me and how to make everything functional at home became a priority, I am no expert and not perfect at all but I managed to find what works for me so here are 6 useful tips to start getting organised at home. If you are having problems coming up with blog posts, then do stop by here.
1. DECLUTTER
The first thing is to declutter and clear out all the mess in every room that never seems to be of any use. Some of the things may be years old and removing that stuff does create more space. Plus it shows you that some of the things you had were not that necessary and were due to impulse buying, more about that here.
2. DESIGNATE AREAS
Once you have decluttered all your rooms and removed all the unwanted stuff, make sure you designate areas for everything. From clothes, to detergents and dishes, everything needs to have its place.
3. A CHORE LIST
This right here has been my saving grace, before having a chore list, I used to just wake up and decide that today I will vacuum or wash the towels or change the sheets. But after a while you tend to forget when you did what so coming up with a chore list will be your safest bet on staying organised.
4. MEAL PLANNING
I used to cook anything that came to mind according to what ingredients I had available but that quickly changed when it all became to cumbersome and I now have a menu pasted on the refrigerator which not only makes cooking easier, but doing grocery shopping is now a breeze since I know what I need and what requires repurchasing, to know more on saving money, check out this post here.
5. CREATE A ROUTINE FOR YOURSELF
A routine makes you feel at ease and you end up getting things done much faster. It is a lifesaver without feeling all controlled. Make your life easier with this planner right here.
6. TIME MANAGEMENT
After having to do school runs with a baby every single day, time management has really kept me sane. I am not saying that you track every single minute of your day but just try to manage your time wisely because you can easily get distracted.

I struggle with staying organised. Even after I have de-cluttered and created a list, I quickly forget about it and I’m right back as square one. I think what I have to work on more is time management. This is my main issue. Thanks a lot for the tips and reminder 🙂
Happy to help, you got this don’t worry.
I used to struggle with decluttering, especially when it came to papers. I am better at it now but it took a long time.
These are great tips! I always need help with organization. Thanks for the inspiration!
To-do lists are my constant go-to! I always feel that I am more organised when I write down what I must get done.
They are really helpful
Great ideas! Will implement a few thanks
Thank you, I hope it helps.
Wow! these are the fab ideas, thank you for sharing and totally agree with all the ideas above. I follow the same.
Thank you.
I so agree with this! Meal planning is a life saver! We homeschool so I’ve found that using a whiteboard to write down a quick general outline of our day helps to keep everyone informed of what’s going on and what needs to be done.
Always helps to know what the agenda of the day is.
I work hard on staying organized. i am not 100% and actually admire my hubby who is really great about putting his things away right when he comes home.
It really does help and keeps you organised.
love these ideas! I love staying organized too!
Thank you.
Now that I have a set routine for blogging, I feel a lot more organized. I also do batch working where I complete the same tasks during a set time. That helps a lot.
Yes once you get into a routine and stick to it , everything ends up running smoothly.
Great tips! It can be very difficult to stay organized around the holidays, so these reminders are nice!
Thank you.
Decluttering has definitely helped me stay organised. There was so much I didn’t need that was taking up space for turned into storage/work area.
It can be surprising how much clutter we have and not even know of.
These are all important and I probably struggle with at least half of them:) I bet you could write a separate post on each one and still have more to say!
Yes you could but didn’t want to overload everyone with organisation.
yes, yes, yes! great tips, this is an ongoing challenge of mine (:
You just have to make it a habit.
I DESPERATELY need to get organized at home… I’m such a mess!
One step at a time, once you get the hang of it then it gets easier.
I am pretty much organized but when it comes to time management i fell short. This is somehing i i ha been working on since pretty long time and taking a look back i guess i hhave made some progress as well .
I’m pretty organised and always know where things are. But things can always be even more organised 🙂 Thanks for the tips!
Useful tips and I need it most. I am so bad in organizing things and planning meal is toughest task. Thanks for sharing your experience
One of the most important benefits of organizing your space is reduced STRESS. Simply having a more efficient system to keep track of your papers and appointments can help minimize stress-influenced conditions such as depression, ulcers and heart disease. Likewise a cluttered environment is difficult to dust and clean.
Time management plays an important role in organizing our day, without it our day flies without fulfilling all our tasks. Now, I am going to work on your idea of decluttering unwanted items 🙂
I couldn’t agree with these tips more. We’ve been downsizing over the last 3 houses we lived in, and I’m only now at peace with my new house. Even though we have a smaller house, I spent the money needed to buy filing cabinets, bins, storage containers, etc, and now all I do to keep my main floor clean is keep the kitchen tidy and run my Neato robot vac! Loving it!
Orginaztion in the home is so important to managing day to day activies especially with the kids.
Its perfect plan for organising the home. I have started shedules as oer this plan let’s see what happens.
Lists, lists, lists. My main work through. Lists help me tons, I always tend to loose focus without them. Decluttering is a necessity at home, always. I know I should change something not to need going it again but let’s face it, I am still not ready.
Having things organized and staying conscious of time has been my weakest spot… I’ve tried different ways and followed alot of routines, but along the way something takes it up from there.
I pray for this work out.
Thanks!
All very good tips! I am an organized freak lol
I’m trying to be more organized in my life. I struggle with my time management the most so I really appreciate your tips on that.
These are all really great organization tips! I always try to make a list and have designated areas for where my work supplies are verses where everyday items such as toys and throws can go. It definitely does help out. I’ll have to try some of your other tips too, thanks for sharing!
These tips are really helpful. I always love to get my home organized and it makes everything more efficient.
I want to declutter! Yeah, I really need to do that. Our space is small and the closets are getting crowded. Maybe I can do it this weekend.
So important. Being organized is so helpful. I am always all over the place and would love to be more organized.
What you shared is definitely what I try to do to find a routine that helps me to be able to achieve what I aim for. Excellent advice.

Every few months I organize my home. We declutter and donate and it’s so liberating.
I’ve been decluttering the house for the last couple of weeks, I know is the first thing I need to tackle in order to get organized this year. I know is going to take a while but I’m happy I started.
Getting organised is not my strenght! I can definitely use your tips!
Great tips on organizing!! Decluttering is the first and most important step to it.
Just what I needed to read on this day. I am struggling to manage my timr and meal planning is on my top priority list. Thanks for this awesome share girl!
As a creative, I have a hard time organizing. I know it will help me in many areas of my life, it just takes some time. Thank s for the tips!
Awesome list! I’m a organised person and I can’t stand mess (half OCD?). These are great ways for beginner organisers.
These are some really useful tips. Recently, I cleared up unwanted items and it wasn’t an easy task. Time management is vital if you want to go things smoothly.

This list is on point! It’s february but I’m still on number 1 – decluttering. I think this is the hardest part of organizing.
Wow! You have great ideas on it. I am really glad to know all that from you. Love this post.
Really appreciate you sharing this blog post. Thank you! Keep writing.
Creating a routine has changed my life! It has helped me get so much more done
These are really great tips. Decluttering is my favorite! I do it all the time.
I’d start with decluttering because honestly, when there is too much around, I can hardly stay productive.
These are great tips. I’ve just started meal planning and it has been amazing so far.
These are all great tips. I feel super chaotic right now so maybe these tips will help me to feel a little less chaotic.
A to do list always helps me. I do need to work on my organization.
These are some great tips – I am absolutely awful at managing to be organised around the home, one day I will get on top of it!
Great tips for sure. I am not very organized, but would like to start especially when it comes to planning meals and such. I need to write what I want to do down on paper.
I’m not too organised at home. I never have a good plan or an idea how to deal with different things, so it’s a bit chaotic at times. Hope these tips will help me a little bit to get more organised soon! 🙂
It sounds quite easy but realistically it isn’t. When tons of workload are in queue, it is pretty hard to do. Number 1 is a key.
I feel like I’m constantly decluttering, but it helps us get rid of stuff we no longer use and keep tabs on the clutter.
I like how simplified this list is, especially since becoming organized can feel very overwhelming. By starting small, you can make it easier to get and stay organized.
Those are some great tips to remember. I like having lists so it makes things easier and also help with my time management.
Thanks for the tips. I need this so bad. I always have issue with time management and I think I need to create a rountine so I’m used to it. Def. going to do this. Thx
Time management is something that I struggle with. I do have a list of to-do’s but “external forces” act so powerfully that I get thrown off my path. I should have a sit down talk with my family and make them understand that I do need some time alone to accomplish my tasks.
Great post I always find the best thing is decluttering and starting in once place/room and moving on, I hear so many times of people doing bits and pieces that it never gets finished
Nice and practical tips I would say.The simplier the better, decluttering is also number one for me.
These are all great tips that I should put into practice before the year ends. Thanks for sharing them.
Love this. I agree to all of these tips. I’m the type of person who can’t live in a messy room. I love decorating and designing rooms, keep them neat and clean – this is due to growing up with an OC mother and big sister lol.
I totally understand ,my husband is slightly OCD too so it’s thorough cleaning any time he sees mess so it’s become a habit for all of us.
These are great tips. I think the one I like most is finding a routine. Staying organized is a habit, it’s not just do it one time and you’re done. You got to keep up with it on a regular basis.
Some great tips! I’ve really been trying recently, especially with the meal prep, it really makes a difference.

I declutter regularly but I think clutter has a life of its own. It creeps into my drawers without my knowledge and it also finds a way to stay on top of my shelves unnoticed. Haha. Seriously though. It makes it difficult to work if you see clutter around you.
I so understand lol, it can have a life of it’s own sometimes.
These are some wonderful tips! I’ve started doing monthly decluttering as well as weekly meal planning. It saves a lot of time!
