Hello Everyone,
I hope you’re all fine and having a good start of the week. Another week calls for another recipe post for you to enjoy. When it comes to sandwiches, I love everything about them from being able to create my own and also having fails along the way, but that’s what makes them fun right? Just in case you missed my mandazi recipe, find it here. Today I am going to share with you a sandwich recipe which I usually like making from time to time and is really simple. The best part about them is that these are open-faced sandwiches and don’t take that long to make. This is how to make my cheese, ham and mustard sandwiches.
You will need:
- Slices of white bread
- Dijon mustard
- 2 eggs
- 200gms grated cheddar cheese
- 200gms sliced ham
METHOD
- Preheat your oven to 180°C
- In a roasting tray, arrange your slices of bread and put aside, I used nine slices in this recipe.
- Take your cheddar cheese and ham and put them in a bowl, I usually use sliced ham which I chop up to smaller pieces for it to be able to mix well with the cheese.
- Beat your 2 eggs and then add three teaspoons of Dijon mustard, If you want it to be a bit stronger you can add a little bit more.
- Take your egg mixture and add it to the ham and cheese then stir all together.
- With a tablespoon or clean hands, place spoonfuls of the mixture on each slice of bread making sure it’s spread evenly, my hands usually do a better job than the spoon.
- Once you are finished, place it in the oven for 20-25 minutes.
- Once all the cheese has melted and slightly browned, it’s done.
- Serve and enjoy.
NOTE: If you have a sensitivity to egg whites which I sometimes have depending on where I bought the eggs, then just mix a tablespoon of mayonnaise with the mixture and it will still work out.
There you have it, my cheese, ham and mustard open-faced sandwiches whenever you need a quick lunch or supper to prepare with no hustle at all, then this will be for you. If you missed my previous post on how impulse buying will cost you, then check it out here. If you have any questions about these sandwiches then don’t be shy to tell me in the comments below. What are your favourite sandwich fillings?

Yes it makes it all easier other than spreading it on first then layering, very fast and simple too.
Okay, this looks amazing. I love sandwiches. The idea of chopping everything up and mixing it together sounds so good!
Thank you, it actually saves you time on doing one by one.
