EASY ORANGE GLAZED & STICKY OVEN BAKED CHICKEN WINGS

Gosh,

It really has been a long time since my last post. How are you all doing? I should be apologising for not been around but I won’t even lie, it has really been awful, I am dealing with the 4 month sleep regression which is totally driving me nuts, on the positive side, this is my 100th post. Never did I ever think that I would end up with 100 posts someday but here we are and I am very proud of myself, it just seems like yesterday when I was busy trying to think of blog post ideas and what to write about in my first post and whether anybody would even want to read it, so thank you everyone for all the support and stopping by and I would like to celebrate it by sharing with you this easy orange glazed & sticky oven baked chicken wings recipe. You will need;

EASY ORANGE GLAZED & STICKY OVEN BAKED CHICKEN WINGS

Ingredients

  • 1kg Chicken wings
  • 4 Crushed garlic cloves
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 teaspoon Paprika
  • 2 tablespoons Olive oil
  • 2 teaspoons Baking powder
  • 1 tablespoon Onion powder

For the glaze

  • 1/2 a cup Orange juice
  • 1/4 cup Ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup Soy sauce
  • Chilli flakes (optional)

METHOD

  • In a bowl, put in your chicken wings, garlic, salt, paprika, olive oil, onion powder and mix them up altogether. Cover your wings with cling film and into the fridge it goes for marination. If you’re in a hurry you could leave it for 20 minutes but the longer it stays the better the flavour, frankly 2 hours is fine.

  • Once you are ready to bake them, take them out of the fridge and let them reach room temperature. Meanwhile, it’s time to make the glaze.
  • In a sauce pan, pour in all the glaze ingredients and on moderate heat, stir them together. Let it simmer for a while until it has slightly reduced.
  • Time for the chicken, preheat your oven to 180°C. Take your chicken and mix in your baking powder then into a baking tray or a rack like I used here. Place your wings in the oven for around 15 minutes.

  • At this time, remove your glaze and set aside, after the 15 minutes, take your wings and drop them in the glaze one by one, swirl them around until well coated and back to the tray and into the oven for a further 10 minutes, baste them after five minutes with the remaining glaze and that’s it.

Note: You can use freshly squeezed orange juice and also when adding the sugar, choose the amount of sweetness you want don’t overdose your taste buds at my expense. Also you see that I only basted them once, if you want them to be more sticky keep basting often but make sure not to burn your wings but I think twice is enough.
That’s it, I hope you do get to try this recipe and enjoy them as much as I did. If you have any more questions for me don’t forget to drop them in the comments below.
