Hey there,
When it comes to blogging, I am sure you’ve all heard about evergreen content or maybe have come across it at some point. If I only knew about this the first time I started blogging then it would have made a lot of things easier and I would have avoided some mistakes that I made along the way. I mean you publish fresh content expecting loads of traffic or even just a bit of attention and you get NOTHING. I know the feeling and if you have experienced this then you’re not alone and it’s fine because we tend to learn from our mistakes.
So what is evergreen content?
Simply put, evergreen content is content that is relevant all year round and can be helpful like forever and ever. Just like the name suggests it stays fresh all year long. Content that is timeless, isn’t for a specific day, season and just brings you back over and over again. Evergreen content should be helpful in January, December and is searchable in years to come too.
Now that you know what evergreen content is, let’s see why you need it for your blog.
1. CONSISTENT TRAFFIC
First and foremost is that you do end up having consistent traffic without worrying whether or not you need to come up with new blog post ideas. If you end up comparing some of your posts maybe a seasonal one compared to an evergreen one, then you will notice that the seasonal peaked during a few months and the evergreen one had a steady flow of traffic without totally stopping.
2. IMPROVES YOUR SEO
Search engine optimisation, when you have evergreen content that is searchable all year long, then Google is likely to pick that up and make it more available for readers. The longer your content stays relevant for the better your search rankings which is a plus and boosts your blog along the way.
3. SHAREABLE ALL YEAR ROUND
Another reason why you need evergreen content is that it’s shareable all year round and that ends up making your content go viral hence increasing your traffic and beneficial to your bounce rate as well. All you need to know is so long as there are no specific dates in your content then it can be shared over and over again.
TYPES OF EVERGREEN CONTENT
WHAT TO AVOID
- Specific dates
- Current news and events
- Seasonal content
Where to find evergreen content
When it comes to finding evergreen content, think of what you would want to search for or know all year round. Use search engines and see what stays relevant all year round.
Updating your content may not really be necessary since it should be that way but it’s always good to go back to them and optimise depending on when you had published them, just the way you go back and update other posts that you have, make sure to revisit them regularly.

Evergreen content is really great for traffic all around the year. These are some nice tips on how to achieve that. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you for sharing. I am all about evergreen content. And another thing that is super helpful when you create loads of content is repurposing your content. When I write a presentation, I always create a blog post out of it, a small video and some social media posts.
I agree that you definitely need a good amount of evergreen posts on your blog. This will keep your traffic steady throughout the year. Then you can add blog posts that are more timely.
I totally agree with this and it has been my goal for this year’s post. It would be nice to have consistent traffic on the blog and choosing the content that can be shared all year long is just the way to do it. Thank you for sharing these tips. Will work on creating more tips and review posts.
Thank you.
I did not know about Evergreen content. I will look into it.
Thank you.
I need to do one of these. Every time I start I discover a new thing to add to the list! But I never knew it had a specific name. Thank you!
I completely agree with you on this…relevant content that can be reached all year round is a must x
Thank you.
I’m a big fan of evergreen content, everything you’ve said I couldn’t agree with more!
Thank you so much.
It’s so important for travel bloggers like me, especially in times like this because we have to look for new things that inspire us. I hadn’t put too much thought into this over the last few years– even though I know I dates date articles and make them less relevant over time. So thanks for the reminder.
Question: is evergreen content the same as cornersone content?
Yes it is.
Ive never heard it called evergreen but what a fitting term. I love blogs that are diverse and touch all topics especially ones that ring true for a lot!
Thank you so much.
